The Gachapon Secrets

1. These are not ordinary capsule toys!

We’ve all put a few quarters in a machine at the front of an American grocery store and received something with little value that was forgotten before we got to our cars! Authentic gachapon toys and figures from Japan are different. These toys and figures are relatively high-quality, quite collectible, and equivalent toys in America sell for $5 – $15.

2. There is more than meets the eye!

Most gachapon fans know that every capsule set comes with a display sheet on the front of gachapon machine. This sheet gives details about the set including the lineup of available capsule toys. Most serious gachapon collectors know, however, that there are often “secret rares” in sets that are incredibly collectible (and sometimes quite valuable). These rares are not always featured on the display sheet and finding one is incredibly exciting!

3. Not all vendors stock rare gachapons (but we do)!

When an authorized vendor purchases a set of gachapon toys from a Japanese manufacturer or distributor, the vendor receives a sealed “complete set” of the toys in the quantity applicable for the set (often 40 capsules). Inside the sealed set is the distribution of capsules as set by the manufacturer, including any “secret rares”. While some vendors use this to their advantage and resell the valuable rares rather than stocking them, every location listed on this website stocks every rare!

4. Not all American vendors receive full sets!

Getting access to full sets of gachapon toys as an American vendor is often an uphill battle. In order to maintain stock, many American vendors are forced to purchase their inventory in piecemeal rather than purchasing full sets from the manufacturers. But with enough effort and perseverance, US vendors can receive full access to every major gachapon manufacturer.
